Much has been made of the Colorado Rapids 3-1 loss last night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park to Seattle Sounders and as it turns out, it was a rough weekend for Rapids family as a whole. Right before the Rapids kicked off, our USL affiliate in Charlotte was wrapping up a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Richmond Kickers.
The Independence were on the road for the second consecutive match and seemed to struggle against a veteran Richmond side, however it was not for a lack of chances from Charlotte. They managed to put 10 shots on goal over the course of the 90 minutes, but could not find the back of the net. (Sounds like a broken record for the #OneClub: the inability to convert chances is truly harming both clubs)
As for Rapids players on loan, here is how they did:
John Berner: the young goalkeeper played 90 minutes and made three saves on six shots on goal.
Caleb Calvert: he played 27 minutes and did register a shot on goal.
Charles Eloundou: Eloundou put in a 71 minute shift and registered on shot (off-target) for his work.
Marlon Hairston: the midfielder/defender started and played the full 90 and had one shot (on-target)
The Independence are back in action this Friday at 5:30 PM MDT at home against Harrisburg City Islanders who bring a 1-2-0 record into Charlotte. The game will be streamed live on You Tube and we will have a preview of this match later in the week.
