The Colorado Rapids and Seattle Sounders will do battle on Saturday night in Commerce City, CO. The Rapids return to the friendly confines of Dick's Sporting Goods Park after an impressive 4-0 win over FC Dallas. Colorado will be looking to get their first home win of the season, and playing Seattle has proven to be a tough challenge for the Rocky Mountain club ever since Seattle joined MLS in 2009.
Colorado (1-1-3. 6 points) are coming off a fantastic 4-0 drubbing of FC Dallas last Friday night. Dominique Badji opened the scoring for the Rapids in only the 2nd minute. Dillon Powers, Gaby Torres, and Dillon Serna all found the scoresheet as two goals in either half condemned FC Dallas to their 2nd consecutive loss and prevented Colorado from setting an MLS record for the biggest winless streak in history.
Seattle (2-2-1, 7 points) are coming off a 1-0 loss to LA Galaxy on the weekend. Alan Gordon put Seattle to the sword in Carson, CA, as the MLS veteran scored the lone goal of the game in the 1st half. LA Galaxy's goalkeeper Jaime Penedo played brilliantly between the pipes and LA were able to preserve the clean sheet and send their home fans happy with a win over the Sounders.
Pablo Mastroeni wasn't present on the bench in Dallas, as the former Rapids legend was serving a 1-match ban after being sent to the stands in the home match against New England. Rapids assistant Claudio Lopez oversaw the big win over Dallas and both coaches are hoping that Colorado can build on the momentum and earn a result at home against Seattle.
