I confess, Twitter is not my favorite thing. I have two Twitter accounts--one personal, and one for all things Colorado Rapids, Arsenal, Everton, West Indies Cricket, etc. I couldn't get a feed to the game (no cable, no MLS Live--cheapskate), so what's the next best way to 'watch' a game? Watch the Tweets! What did I learn?
- We as Rapids fans need a bigger presence. We need to #rapids96 the fire out of the Twittersphere, and get on the hashtags of the games and dominate. I'm glad we don't keep track of the score, because we would have walked away with zero points. That being said...
- You get 140 characters of passion.
And of course, they are at 0-0 at the half all because of them being down some men, and not due to the Rapids D:
At the half I'd say it's like playing a man (or two) down, good thing it's against a bad Colorado team. #HOUvCOL— joe offebacher (@offebacher) March 29, 2015
Again, I say, "Right--not because of the Rapids' much-improved defense." But I digress.
Of course, you gotta give credit where credit it due. Props to Tyler Deric!
But then I go to the #rapids96 feed, and lo and behold, there are my brothers in Burgundy--but not many!
For all the talk of the offense, I'd rather have this #Rapids96 struggling to find a goal than last year's team that leaked 3 a game— Burgundy Wave (@Burgundywave) March 29, 2015
... where we learned some good news before the game!
And Drew Moor getting some game, er, I mean, air time!
At around the 75th minute, I started wondering if we were going to have a third straight 0-0 game--fueling the fire that we would have 34 straight games like this!
A lot of effort and urgency for #Rapids96 . They know this is winnable.— The Rapids Rabbi (@rapidsrabbi) March 29, 2015
Then Badji comes on, inexplicably for Ramirez! Our own BW :
If Dom Badji scores I'm flying to Houston to storm the pitch myself #Rapids96— Burgundy Wave (@Burgundywave) March 29, 2015
Inexplicably removing Ramirez? I'm not the only one who felt like that:
What on earth? Why has he taken Ramirez off? The one player on #Rapids96 who looks like they could create something. Madness.— Tommy Newbold (@tommynewbold) March 29, 2015
In the 83rd minute, even Pablo's Stache grew desperate and hopeful:
I even got in on the act!
And more concerns about the officiating:
(My response: have the Rapids ever really fouled? I thought they were just aggressive and totally within bounds. Huh!) And with the Rapids drawing with Houston 0-0, I leave you with this great summary of tonight's matchup:
Well that was..... #HOUvCOL— joe offebacher (@offebacher) March 29, 2015
There you have it. Rapids' fans, get into the #rapids96 spaces and light it up! Some good stuff out there.
