Omar Cummings signs with San Antonio Scorpions

Another former Rapids favorite has landed in the NASL.

A lot of former Colorado Rapids players seem to end up in the NASL, with the Tampa Bay Rowdies alone having hosted guys like Eddie Ababio, Anthony Wallace and Matt Pickens in the past few seasons. Omar Cummings is the newest name that you can throw onto that list, as the Jamaican forward was signed by the San Antonio Scorpions today.

Cummings' career has taken an unfortunate nosedive since he was considered a dark horse for MLS MVP back in 2010. His 14 goals that season remain a career high, and after being traded to the Houston Dynamo for Nathan Sturgis before the 2013 season, he was never able to find the sharpness and finishing ability that made him so dangerous in previous seasons. During his time in Houston he scored only three goals in 37 appearances, keeping him out of Owen Coyle's plans this season.

Good luck to Omar, who is joining the current reigning NASL champion and should finally have a chance at some more silverware in his career.
