#OneClub. For some it is a fancy hashtag but for other such as the Colorado Rapids it is not just a philosophy, it seems to be the way that the Rapids are going about their business. In a week that saw the club make a major signing and a major departure, let alone a new jersey sponsor, there were some other moves and news that occurred this week of note:
Charlotte Independence Loanees--John Berner, Caleb Calvert and Charles Eloundou all saw time in preseason friendlies this week for the Independence with varying degrees of success. The Independence played two friendlies this week dropping one result and picking up a win in another.
On March 17: The Independence took on University of North Carolina Charlotte in a friendly and fell 2-1. All three Rapids loanees saw time and Calvert picked up the loan goal. Berner was the starter and gave up one goal for his time and Eloundou made several good runs up the flanks. The overall opinion was the Calvert and Eloundou looked good and Berner had his ups and downs on the evening.
On March 21: The Independence got the victory last night against Carolina RailHawks 1-0 on the strength on an Eloundou goal. Berner got the start again and was able to pick up the clean sheet.
So a fairly #OneClub ish week for both the Rapids and the Independence. Two Rapids players score goals for the Independence and a Charlotte player signs with the Burgundy Boys. Overall, a crazy but good week as the soccer season heats up. The Independence play their first match this Friday at 5:30 PM against the visiting Charleston Battery and the Rapids return to the pitch on Saturday against Houston Dynamo at 6:30 PM.
