Late on Friday Major League Soccer made a change to the Colorado Rapids schedule with the announcement that the originally scheduled July 25 match against New York Red Bulls had been moved. That fixture will now be played on Wednesday, April 29 at 5:30 PM MDT.
What does this mean for the Rapids? When looking at the change it means a bit of a congested last week on April as the Rapids play at home on the 24th against FC Dallas, then make the trip to Harrison, NJ to play NYRB on the 29th and then fly to Carson to play LA Galaxy on May 2. Not an ideal stretch, but it is made up for in July. The Rapids will play Seattle Sounders on July 18 at Century Link Field and then are off until August 1. I would have to think that the extra bye week at the end of July will help the team recover and get ready for the business end of the season.
And there is that whole All-Star Game thing as well to look forward to in the middle of that break on July 29.
