Report: Charlotte Independence Have Stadium Site

Some good news for our USL affiliate: it looks like they have a stadium lined up for 2015

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

As the Colorado Rapids are training in Tucson, things are moving right along for our USL affiliate in Charlotte with reports coming out that the Independence have a stadium site lined up and are moving forward with its construction.  Based on those reports, it looks like Ramblewood Soccer Complex will be a temporary home for the Independence that will accommodate 4,600 supporters and is about 12 miles from Downtown Charlotte.  It looks like the facility will be ready in mid April which could see Toronto FC II or Richmond Kickers as the first opponents.

And here is a rendering of the Independence home pitch:

It looks to be a very nice facility that will offer a beer garden for supporters and is small and intimate enough to create a challenging place for opponents to play.  And as the Independence are looking for a permanent place to play the Ramblewood Complex should provide them a solid and well positioned venue to get the team up and running.
