Rebuilding the Rapids: Sean St. Ledger Back in Burgundy

The Rapids announced today that Sean St. Ledger has signed a new contract with Colorado.

As the Colorado Rapids look to rebuild after a difficult year in 2015, they continued that process today by announcing that defender Sean St. Ledger signed a new contract with the Rapids.

Paul Bravo had this to say about St. Ledger:

Sean has become very important very quickly during his time at Colorado Rapids and He brings experience and quality to the back line and we are very pleased to have secured his future at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

St. Ledger has played one season in Major League Soccer splitting time with Orlando City and the Rapids making 27 total appearances for both clubs and should be a sure fire starter for the Burgundy Boys along the back line.

Speaking of that back-line that leaves the Rapids with five signed defenders (according to the team they are also negotiating with Drew Moor).  Those five players are Marc Burch, Axel Sjoberg, Marlon Hairston and Joseph Greenspan.  There is not a great deal of experience along that back-line (save for Burch), but St. Ledger will bring a veteran presence that should help to solidify that young group going forward.  That being said, there are still many more signings to come for the Rapids as the team will not go into the season with five defenders.

So what do you think Rapids fans?  Are you happy that St. Ledger is coming back?  Let us know in the comment section below!
