Some big news out of Commerce City today

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

It is that time of year where roster moves are being made as Major League Soccer teams look to build towards 2016 and beyond.  For our very own Colorado Rapids, they announced the following moves today:

Colorado Rapids have picked up the contract options on goalkeepers Clint Irwin and John Berner, defenders Joseph Greenspan and Axel Sjöberg, midfielders Sam Cronin, Jared Watts and Dillon Serna, and striker Dominique Badji.

The eight players under contract for the 2016 season are Marlon Hairston, Marc Burch, Juan Ramírez, Marcelo Sarvas, Dillon Powers, Kevin Doyle, Caleb Calvert and Luis Solignac.

Colorado Rapids have declined options on defenders James Riley, Drew Moor, Sean St. Ledger and Maynor Figueroa, midfielders Nick LaBrocca, Lucas Pittinari, Vicente Sánchez and Carlos Alvarez, as well as strikers Charles Eloundou and Gabriel Torres.

In addition, contracts will expire at the end of the season for Bobby Burling and Michael Harrington.

Carlos Alvarez, Vicente Sánchez and Gabriel Torres are eligible for the MLS Re-Entry Draft while Drew Moor and Sean St. Ledger have been offered new agreements.

This means (as of right now) the Rapids have the following players under contract for 2016:

Goalkeepers

Clint Irwin, John Berner

Defenders

Marlon Hairston, Joseph Greenspan, Axel Sjöberg, Marc Burch

Midfielders

Jared Watts, Marcelo Sarvas, Dillon Powers, Dillon Serna, Sam Cronin, Juan Ramirez.

Forwards

Kevin Doyle, Dominique Badji, Caleb Calvert, Luis Solignac.

We will have much more on this developing story with analysis and opinion in the coming days, but we want to hear your thoughts on this.  Do you like the moves?  Are you shocked or surprised?  Let us know!
