Burgundy Wave Player Grades: Defender Ben Newnam

He started in Charlotte, then came to Commerce City, then went back to Charlotte, then was released and then went to Pittsburgh. Say What?

Highlight of the Year: Well, he did make one start for the Rapids.

Lowlight of the Year: Honestly, what the hell happened here?  Newnam was originally a Charlotte Independence player, then was sold to the Rapids and then sent on loan to Charlotte and then was released by the Rapids.  And after that he signed with Pittsburgh Riverhounds.  Needless to say, it was a bizarre situation for Newnam and you have to wonder what all went on, but the one thing that is clear is that he is no longer with the #OneClub.

2015 Grade (C-): With just one start for the Rapids and another 11 for the Independence, Newnam did not play a whole lot for either club.  But in his one start for Colorado, he was effective, but nothing spectacular.

2016 Outlook: Newnam looked like he has the skills to play in Major League Soccer, but he would not be someone that would get many starts.  USL or NASL looks to be a better option for him right now.
