Game Recaps: United States 4:0 Panama

A Tale of Two Halves in Commerce City

Peter G. Aiken-USA TODAY Sports

So the Seattle Sounders have to like that they hold the right to Jordan Morris.

Cause let's be honest here.....he comes on in the second half and the US U-23's score and score and score.

And it's not just that he scores, he seems to make this team better.

And against Panama on a cold and rainy night in Commerce City, his arrival into the match at halftime was the difference maker.

The first half was largely a lethargic affair with neither side really making a solid push for a goal.

But the second half was a completely different story.

A five minute stretch in the second half saw the U-23 USMNT go from being level to being 3-0 up (with a goal from Morris in there to boot).  Luis Gil added a penalty kick in the 71st minute (and could that goalkeeper been any further off his line) to make it 4-0.

The victory meant that the United States win Group A and will meet the second place team in Group B for the right to play in the final and a trip to the Rio Olympics.
