Predicting (Guessing) October For The Rapids

The final month of the 2015 season is here for the Rapids. What will it bring?

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Predicting the Colorado Rapids in 2015 has been a little bit like throwing darts.  You know where you want the dart to go, but those dang things have a way of doing what they want.

Much like this Rapids season.

The Rapids did not win until their 5th game of the year.   Then they waited until the 11th game to pick up win two.  Wins three, four and five came in games 18-20.  And their last three wins came in games 24-26.

So trying to figure out this team is not an easy thing to do.

And neither is the month of October for the Rapids.  This is a brutal month for the Burgundy Boys.  They face four teams with playoff aspirations and only RSL is more or less out of it.  How will the Rapids do in October?  Here is my best guess:

Sunday, October 4 vs Real Salt Lake

The Rocky Mountain Cup is on the line for the Rapids and all they need is a result in this one to bring the cup back to Colorado.  But it will not be easy.  The Rapids will be missing Dillon Serna (U-23 USMNT duty) and Kevin Doyle is probably out with an injury in this one.  So two of your most creative players will be out for the biggest game of the year and you know RSL will be PISSED with how the last game turned out.  My heart says the Rapids will get the result they need to bring the cup back to the right side of the Rocky Mountains.  But I have to be realistic here:

Real Salt Lake is 3-2-0 in their last five and the Rapids are 1-3-1 in their last five.  The form guide favors the visitors from the Wasatch Front and the Rapids have been utter crap in the last month.

Win for RSL

Saturday, October 10 vs Montreal Impact

This match looks to be the only one that the Rapids have a shot at points in October and I think they will pull out a draw against the Impact.  Montreal is the better team, but the Burgundy Boys will find a way and capture that draw.

Wednesday, October 21 at Sporting Kansas City

This is the rescheduled match from May when Sporting was unwilling to play the Rapids the next day after a rain out.  Depending on how things shake out for Sporting, they may need this game to get into the playoffs.  It will not matter whether they need it or not, they win this won.  Win for Sporting

Sunday, October 25 at Portland Timbers

The Rapids season mercifully comes to a close with a blow out loss in Portland.  And if I am right, this loss would mean the Rapids will not have won a game since August.  Sounds like 2014 eh?

So what do you think Rapids fans?  Am I right?  Am I wrong?  Am I full of it?  Let me know in the comment sections below!
