The Colorado Rapids traveled to Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night to make up a game that was rained out in the Spring and for once this season, the Rapids were not all wet. The "experts" all had the Rapids losing badly in this one.
Including yours truly at Burgundy Wave.
Now, it was not pretty or beautiful soccer.
We only had the ball 38.7% of the time
Our passing accuracy was atrocious at 68%
We only had 309 total passes.
But, we had five shots on target.
And two of those went in.
It was clear from the get go that the Rapids were content to sit back and absorb pressure as they looked to catch Sporting Kansas City on the counter. And they did that. Goals from Dillon Powers and Marcelo Sarvas led the way for the Burgundy Boys (all clad in yellow) and Zac MacMath grabbed his first clean sheet in Colorado.
It was a fun match, and a solid performance from the Rapids.
