During a long string of tweets about Colorado Rapids-related stuff yesterday, Daniel Boniface of the Denver Post made mention of Nick Labrocca and how he was apparently re-signed and ready for 2015.
I ran into Nick Labrocca...he's re-signed with the #Rapids96 and will be back for 2015.— Daniel Boniface (@danielboniface) January 27, 2015
Labrocca was one of the few remaining question marks on the roster in regards to his status for next season. Though he started the majority of the matches for the Rapids last year, he was rarely noted for spectacular play, specifically when the Rapids began their long nosedive at the tail end of the year. Now that Sam Cronin and Marcelo Sarvas are on the squad, however, Labrocca's spot looks like one of a back-up jack-of-all-trades midfielder, a good asset to have so long as we aren't counting on him to start 30 games this time around.
With Labrocca confirmed back, defensive midfield is starting to look like one of the deeper spots on the team rather than the weakness that it looked to be at the start of the off-season.
