The positive news just keeps coming for the Colorado Rapids as word leaked today that our very own Burgundy Boys will be the host team for the 2015 Major League Soccer All-Star Game.

We had heard the rumors that an important announcement was coming on Wednesday of this week, and most pundits had assumed that the announcement would be the awarding of the All-Star Game to Colorado. For the Colorado soccer community this is a major coup and has continued a trend of major matches in the Denver Metropolitan Area, including World Cup qualifiers, the USWNT appearances, the 2013 Gold Cup and the Guinness International Champions Cup. According to reports, the event will be jointly hosted by the Rapids, Commerce City and the city of Denver, which makes a ton of sense. The heartbeat of the Metro is in Denver and is a just a quick trip to Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
As you are aware, the Rapids hosted the 2007 All-Star game against Celtic FC on July 19. It was a 2-0 victory for the MLS side which featured Rapids Head Coach, and mustache aficionado, Pablo Mastroeni.
No word yet on the actual date for the match of who the opponent would be, but there has been some rumors that the opposition could be Tottenham Hotspur:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>I’ve been hearing for a while that Tottenham could be 2015 <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/MLS?src=hash">#MLS</a> All-Star opponent, but haven’t heard of anything being finalized yet. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/THFC?src=hash">#THFC</a></p>— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) <a href="https://twitter.com/SoccerByIves/status/556239706422542336">January 17, 2015</a></blockquote>

If the opponent is Spurs, this would be a massive draw for Spurs supporters in the Rocky Mountain and the Midwest Area of the USA.
So what do you think Rapids fans? Are you excited to see the All-Star Game come back to Dick's Sporting Goods Park? And who would you want the opponent to be? Let us know in the comments below!
