Say What?
With all of the talk about Chris Klute getting traded to Columbus and an important announcement coming from Don Garber and the Colorado Rapids next week, this little tidbit got lost in all of it:
Its been a long long process but I'm officially a dual citizen! #American #Italian pic.twitter.com/YxQ12BhVwj

Say What?
Now if this is accurate, this really does not change his status with the Burgundy Boys. He is under contract with the club and is one of the bedrocks of this franchise going forward. But what it does do for him is opens up the option of playing for either Italy or the United States National Teams. Powers is not cap-tied to the USA, so it is possible that he could play for Italy if they called him up.
The biggest development though: he has an EU passport which makes transferring much easier as he escapes the whole work permit kerfuffle. Just ask Juan Agudelo about that.
So what do you think Rapids fans? Are you shocked by this development? Let us know in the comments section below.
