The Colorado Rapids have been very trade-happy the past two drafts, but their second-round draft selection remained consistent throughout the process despite their original first round pick being moved for Danny Mwanga, their new second being traded to move up in the first round, and their late second-round pick being shipped to Philadelphia. With their second rounder, No. 26 overall, the Rapids went for another giant defender, Navy's Joseph Greenspan.
Greenspan is 6'6'', pairing well with 6'7'' Axel Sjoberg. As Ives put it, the Rapids are apparently starting a basketball team out there. Greenspan was ranked as one of the best center backs in the college game last season, but being with the Naval Academy his service is going to keep his availability in question.
That will be Colorado's final pick of the day, barring another trade. The rest of the draft will be held via conference call on another date, but these two picks are likely the only two we can expect to see much noise from with the Rapids.
