After a challenging season many Colorado Rapids fans were hoping for a tremendous off-season to wash away that taste from that terrible 2014 campaign. After a fairly busy November and December, the Rapids made their first major signing of the new year bringing in Argentine Midfielder Lucas Pittinari.
The deal is being reported as a one year loan with a $1.5 million option to purchase at the end of the term.
The 23 year old Pittinari comes to the Rapids from Argentina Primera Division side Belgrano where he has played since 2009 making 67 appearances and grabbing two goals. He is primarily a defensive midfielder which is a position of need for the Rapids and should be able to slot into a position that was occupied by Jose Mari before his departure back to Spain. And with only one recognized defensive midfielder on the team (Jared Watts), this is a big signing for the Rapids.
What do you think Rapids fans? Are you excited to see Pittinari in Burgundy?
