Rapids F Danny Mwanga to be loaned to NASL's New York Cosmos

Finally, some good news!

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

Colorado Rapids forward and frequent Burgundy Wave foil Danny Mwanga is set to be loaned out to the New York Cosmos of the NASL, as announced by the Rapids today.

Mwanga has been absolutely dreadful since joining the Rapids in 2013, playing only a handful of appearances and getting only a single assist out of them. He looks to have been one of the worst trades since *that trade*, making $171,250 in guaranteed compensation while providing almost nothing when he's been on the field, all for a first round draft pick.

He has scored goals in MLS in the past for the Philadelphia Union, and this is likely Colorado's final push to try and desperately give him some playing time and, gods willing, a goal or two to finally get him into something resembling decent form.

The Cosmos, currently the holders of the NASL Championship, have two former Rapids players on the roster, right back Hunter Freeman and midfielder Joseph Nane. They also have former Rapids trialist Jimmy Maurer in goal, and will add Mwanga to that mix shortly.
