Drew Moor out for the season with ACL tear

Colorado's captain will miss the remainder of the season.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

All right, who's the jerk who said 'at least things can't get any worse' before the DC United game? That's how that sort of thing works, right? Either way, a bad situation for the Colorado Rapids has been turned into a far, far worse one with news breaking that Drew Moor will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.

This will only boost the awful defensive woes that the Rapids have been facing in recent weeks. It does, however, give the Rapids very little excuse for not giving some minutes to the boatload of defenders that they've accumulated who haven't gotten all that many this season. (See: this post from earlier today.) It also means that whatever slim hopes that the Rapids had at getting into the 2014 playoff race are even slimmer, and probably out of the question altogether.

Best of luck on a speedy recovery to Captain Colorado.
