Colorado Rapids are finding themselves in quite the dogfight for a playoff spot and dropping a 3-1 decision to FC Dallas in Frisco, Texas did not help their cause. The Rapids did not play bad, but did not play anywhere good enough to deserve three points out of this road game. And with a brutal four weeks, the teams fortunes may be going down the drain if they don't fix this soon.
Here is how I saw the match:
Clint Irwin 5.5
I am not sure what to make of Irwin's night. He made one save, but was left out to dry on the goals by a poor Rapids defense.
Marc Burch 5
The back four was poor all night. Rinse, Wash, Repeat.
Drew Moor 4
It is the same old tired story from Captain Colorado in that the "Rapids were just not good enough." Stop with the excuses and lead this team.
Marvell Wynne 5
A little hard done by the penalty, but the lack of concentration and poor marking is getting to be tiresome.
Chris Klute 4
Klute is not the same person that he was last year. The hunger and desire seem to have disappeared.
Jose Mari 6
Mari made his second start since his injury and helped the Rapids control the ball (to the tune of 61%). But possession means nothing if you can't convert that into goals.
Nick LaBrocca 5.5
Four shots (none on goal) and great possession for the Rapids. Sounds like a microcosm of the season.
Carlos Alvarez 6
Alvarez made the start for the team and had some early link up play with Brown that was good, but ultimately could not translate that into goals.
Dillon Powers 6
Another quiet game for Powers as he struggled to get the ball on frame and where he did have some dangerous runs, nothing looked to truly threaten Dallas.
Vicente Sanchez 6.5
He can't do it all, but the Rapids are sure trying to be that team where he does have to do it all.
Deshorn Brown 5.5
Brown had some early chances, but all fell short.
Substitutions
Dillon Serna 5
Serna came on late in the game when it was over and did not provide much for his shift.
Gabriel Torres 6
Torres had another goal. He has the last two Rapids goals and, whereas that is great and all, it is sad because the Rapids have only one goal in their last three games.
Edson Buddle 5
Buddle played and did nothing to aid in the Rapids scoring goals.
