The Colorado Rapids will look to build upon a three match unbeaten streak as the Rocky Mountain club travels to Providence Park on Friday night. Rapids head coach Pablo Mastroeni will have his work cut out for him as Shane O'Neill, Nick LaBrocca, and Vicente Sanchez will not be available for selection as the trio will be serving suspensions.

Colorado (7-5-6) currently find themselves in 4th place in the Western Conference. The Rapids fought back to claim a 3-3 draw in what proved to be a wild game against Philadelphia Union on the weekend. After Conor Casey opened the scoring for the hosts, Dillon Serna found the scoresheet but the Rapids soon found themselves down 3-1 in the 2nd half. However, a red card to Philly led to a Colorado comeback as Dillon Powers and DeShorn Brown tallied to claim a point on the road.

Portland (4-6-9) have struggled this season and are near the bottom of the Western Conference. They are also coming off a 2-0 loss to arch-rival Seattle Sounders at CenturyLink Field on Sunday night. This will be the second time this season that both clubs have met. Colorado claimed a 2-0 win in April after Vicente Sanchez and DeShorn Brown led the Rapids to victory at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Rapids midfielder Jose Mari is not expected to play as the Spaniard is still recovering from an ankle injury. Gaby Torres is expected to feature after making a late cameo against Philadelphia and was instrumental in setting up Brown's equalizer. Colorado has not won in Portland since a 1-0 win over the Timbers at (then) Jeld-Wen Field in 2011.
