Shane O'Neill Suspended For One Match After Bad Tackle

The Rapids will now be missing two players through suspension against the Timbers.

Unsurprisingly, Colorado Rapids defender Shane O'Neill got a call from the MLS Disciplinary Committee this week after making a bad tackle against the Philadelphia Union last weekend. Shane will be suspended for one game, the match against the Portland Timbers on July 19th. No word on if Drew Moor, who made the awful pass that forced O'Neill to make the diving tackle in the first place, has bought him a fruit basket in apology.

Shane is the second Rapids player to be suspended for the Timbers match this weekend, joining Vicente Sanchez. Sanchez is currently on the second game of a two-match suspension, so both he and O'Neill will be available again for the match against Chivas USA on July 25th.

From the official MLS press release:

Colorado Rapids defender Shane O’Neill has been suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount for serious foul play which endangered the safety of an opponent in the 11th minute of the match on July 12 against the Philadelphia Union (VIDEO).
