"And at 6PM a collective groan was uttered from all Colorado Rapids supporters."
That 6PM window... you know, an hour before kick-off and when starting lineups are released for a 7PM match. And that was when Colorado Rapids released this starting lineup: John Berner, Thomas Piermayr, Shane O'Neill, Drew Moor, Marc Burch, John Neeskens, Nick LaBrocca, Jared Watts, Charles Eloundou, Danny Mwanga, Marlon Hairston.
It seems critical to knock these players as individuals, as they all bring something to the team. And I do not necessarily fault them for the 0-0 tie against Chicago Fire on Wednesday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. All players need to contribute for this team to be successful, but it is extremely frustrating after to blowout victories to see the Rapids lay the proverbial egg against an inferior opponent. I respect the Fresh Legs Player Rotation Policy, and that everyone needs to contribute, BUT when you have a chance to pick up three points at home, you absolutely must do it.
Here is how I saw the match:
John Berner 7
Berner had very little to do and did not make a save on the evening. But a clean sheet is a clean sheet.
Thomas Piermayr 7
Chicago offered little in the way of attack and the Rapids defense offered another clean sheet. Piermayr, O'Neill, Moor and Burch were all solid on the evening.
Shane O'Neill 7
