Colorado Rapids offered up a tremendous performance on a warm Sunday evening as a brace from Deshorn Brown and a terrific back heal from resurgent Kamani Hill was what the Rapids needed to carry the day. Timely offense and solid play from the midfield brought the Rapids 3 important points and solidified their hold on third place in the Western Conference.
Here is how I saw the match:
Clint Irwin 7
Irwin did not record a save on the night, and was rarely called into service. Was able to distribute the ball forward as needed.
Marvell Wynne 9
Brown and Hill will get the plaudits (and rightfully so), but Wynne offered delicious service on the first goal and was superb all night. His best game of the year.
Shane O'Neill 7
O'Neill played a solid game in dealing with Will Bruin from the Dynamo. Was never really challenged and was able to deal with the Dynamo offense.
Drew Moor 6.5
Moor was good but had some uncharacteristic giveaways in the back. That being said, Moor was able to use his physicality to stop the Dynamo push.
Chris Klute 7
A solid game from Klute who made several good runs to get involved in the offense and was good in shutting down the Houston forwards.
Dillon Serna 7
Serna was very good at controlling the ball and was terrific in pushing the ball forward. And did you see that back heel?
Jose Mari 7
Jose Mari was very good at ball possession and was able to start many Rapids offensive pushes. His passing was crisp and controlled.
Nick LaBrocca 7
Another good shift from LaBrocca and he had a solid shot on goal from distance. Never felt threatened by the Dynamo midfielders.
Kamani Hill 9
Confidence is contagious and Hill is playing with it. Hill missed a sitter in the first half but absolutely made up for it with a wonder goal in the second. It should not be understated his ability to get back on defense as needed.
Dillon Powers 9
Is there anything this kid can't do? Started up top for the second time this year and offered his typical quality performance with two assists and continued threatening play. Powers makes this team a playoff team.
Deshorn Brown 9
We have been waiting for goals from Brown and he delivered in a big way. Excellent all night and an in form Brown is a bonus for the Rapids.
Substitutions
Marlon Hairston 7
The kid has wheels. When he entered the game he nearly added to the Rapids tally and showed some poise on and off the ball.
Jared Watts 6
Came on after the game was decided and helped to continue to frustrate the Dynamo attack.
Danny Mwanga 6
Played the final ten minutes and did not produce any offensive thrust.
