The Colorado Rapids will aim to get back to winning ways after a disappointing loss in Seattle as the Rocky Mountain side will play host to the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday evening at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The Rapids are currently ahead of the Galaxy in the table, but the Southern California club has only played 5 league matches so far.
Colorado (3-2-2) played poorly in a 4-1 loss in the Emerald City as the Seattle Sounders put the Rapids to the sword on the weekend. Clint Dempsey claimed a brace and was involved in the first goal of the game, where Drew Moor kept the USA International's shot from crossing the line, but played the ball right to Lamar Neagle, who made no mistake in blasting the ball into a wide open net.
Los Angeles (2-1-2) have not played a match since April 19th, a 2-2 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Stefan Ishizaki and Robbie Keane found the scoresheet but a win was not in the cards as Kekuta Manneh found a late equalizer as both clubs had to share the spoils. LA Galaxy was eliminated from the CONCACAF Champions League in the quarterfinals to Mexican side and Baja California neighbor Club Tijuana.
The Denver Post reported on Thursday that the club secured it's first-ever shirt sponsor. Dallas-based company Ciao Telecom reportedly agreed to a 4+ year deal that is worth $2 million per year. The Rapids will have the sponsor on their kits for the game against LA.
