After a very good start to the season, the Colorado Rapids have been in a bit of free fall. No wins since the Vicente Sanchez-powered 1-0 victory over the Galaxy, and still not a whole lot of goals to show for their efforts. If there's one fixture that seems destined to stop the offensive struggle though, it's the one against the Impact. Jaime Castrillon's magical wind-powered goal in 2012 and Tony Cascio's unforgettable last-second heroics in 2013 have given the Rapids two straight wins over the Impact since they came into MLS, and those were 3-2 and 4-3 affairs in the end.
Some excitement is just what the boring, boring Rapids need at the moment, and they've no excuse not to show any against the absolute worst team in Major League Soccer. Hopefully they'll find that old spark against the Impact once again -- after all, that 4-3 win is what propelled the up-and-down Rapids team of last year to a nine-game undefeated streak and, eventually, a playoff match.
