The Colorado Rapids will welcome Chivas USA in what will most likely be a cold and wet Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Sunday. The weather forecast predicts rain mixed with snow - not unusual for the Denver area in May. Regardless of the elements, the Rapids will look to build on their 0-0 midweek draw with San Jose in Northern California.
Colorado (4-2-3) are coming off a 0-0 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday. Rapids goalkeeper Clint Irwin made some fantastic saves as Chris Wondolowski was left frustrated on more than one occasion. Colorado has two straight shutouts but scoring goals has been a concern over the past few weeks.
Chivas USA (1-5-3) are currently bottom of the Western Conference. The Goats are coming off a 4-1 home loss to the Houston Dynamo on the weekend. Chivas USA head coach Wilmer Cabrera will be making his return to Colorado as he was assistant to Oscar Pareja for two seasons with the Rapids. Chivas USA midfielder Martin Rivero is expected to feature against his former Club.
The Rapids recently acquired Gale Agbossoumonde from Toronto FC. It is unclear if the Togo-born defender will be on the game day roster, but the 22-year-old hailed Colorado's young talent and stated that he wants to win trophies with the Centennial State club.
