Former Rapids defender Steve Trittschuh will take the helm for Colorado's newest pro soccer team.

I will not tire of using random nature photos for every Switchbacks story.

We've been so busy talking (probably way too much) about the new coaching hire for the Colorado Rapids that we've nearly glossed over the fact that our new neighbors down south have been making moves of their own on the coaching front. The Colorado Springs Switchbacks have wasted no time in picking up a head coach of their own.

They teased it out that he would be a guy with MLS Championship game, USMNT and general Colorado soccer experience. Though the immediate fun answer to throw out was Marcelo Balboa, they went for a bit less outlandish choice in former Rapids defender Steve Trittschuh.

Trittschuh, who was also an assistant coach for the Rapids for a period of a few years back in the mid-2000's (including their two very good campaigns in '05 and '06), has never had a head coaching position before, but will have plenty of time to get accustomed to the settings before the Switchbacks kick off in 2015.
