The rumored trade from a few days ago of Michael Harrington to the Colorado Rapids was confirmed on Monday during the short transfer window. After a website glitch appeared to show that Harrington was given a roster spot on the Rapids' website, this move comes as no surprise.
Harrington is a versatile fullback who will instantly be the favorite to start at right back come the 2015 season. During his time in MLS since being drafted by Sporting Kansas City in 2007, he made over 200 appearances with the Sporks and the Portland Timbers. Harrington has a single appearance with the US Men's National U-17 team, and got a call-up from the senior team last season after the Timbers' impressive 2013 campaign.
As expected, the Rapids did not give up any players for Harrington, instead sending over allocation money. As per usual, the amount of money spent by the Rapids is undisclosed.
