Tony Cascio, Danny Mwanga selected in Expansion Draft

Two Rapids players, both of whom were on loan a few months back, were picked in the Expansion Draft.

Going into the MLS Expansion Draft, I think most Colorado Rapids fans would have been surprised to see even one player taken by Orlando City SC or New York City FC. Instead, two got picked up, both names that I think surprised just about everyone watching.

Orlando City picked up Tony Cascio with their second pick of the entire draft, and then selected Danny Mwanga with their second-to-last pick. Other players that were expected to get a look, like Marvell Wynne, were left untouched by the two new expansion teams.

Cascio spent all of last season on loan with the Houston Dynamo and had only just returned to the Rapids before being picked by the Lions. Mwanga, after two seasons of ineptitude with the Rapids, heads to Orlando shortly after the end of his loan to the NASL's New York Cosmos.

The MLS Waiver Draft is next up. Hold on to your hats, because draftstravaganza has only just begun in MLS!
