It has been a tough season for our Burgundy Boys, but in a testament to the youth and quality on this roster, two Rapids players have been called into the U-23 United States Men National Team (USMNT) Camp in preparation for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Midfielder Marlon Hairston and Homegrown Player Dillon Serna were both called into the camp which will be held in Brasília which starts on October 9.
This is an important camp for both Serna and Hairston as they have seen regular time with the Rapids first team this year and that amount of playing time should enhance their chances of making the United States Olympic team and could also provide a spring board to more senior call-ups to the USMNT.
The U-23 team will face the Brazilian U-23 team on October 13 which means both Hairston and Serna will miss the final match against Chivas USA. "In theory" that should be a game that the Rapids win, but in this season, you never know.
So what do you think? Are you excited about Hairston and Serna getting the call? Let us know in the comments below.
