The #RapKids are going red, white and blue. At least, two of them are for the January camp prior to the World Cup. Jurgen Klinsmann announced his first 26-man roster for January training camp, and two Rapids youngsters made the cut: Shane O'Neill and Chris Klute.
Both O'Neill and Klute were expected to get their first call-ups at some point in the next year or so after very good first full years for the Rapids. Klute put together a marvelous season at left back and quickly turned into one of the most talked about fullbacks in the entire league by impressing on defense and putting up seven assists, while O'Neill led the USMNT U-20's back line earlier in the year and put a few points on the board while doing so. (This might also be the first step in keeping him from joining the Irish National Team instead, something that's been a talking point with the young center back and midfielder.)
Other guys from the league that got themselves call-ups include DeAndre Yedlin, who will likely be battling it out with Klute for a fullback spot on the national squad in the future if both of them continue to grow, and a few older guys like Chance Myers and Seth Sinovic.
Next stop, Brazil? Not likely, but it's good to see that these guys are at least getting their names into the mixer for the future.
