The Daily Wave: Gaby Torres In Form For Country

Gabriel Torres might have had a slow start with the Rapids, but he's still showing his stuff big-time on the national team stage.

Getting Gabriel Torres was, we hoped, going to be an immediate spark to the Colorado Rapids offense as he stepped in and immediately played up to the considerable hype we had laid upon him. Unfortunately, soccer doesn't quite work that way and we instead have seen two games filled with chemistry issues and, in the most recent performance, the midfield never getting him the ball properly.

Let's not forget what he's capable of when he's got the ball at his feet, however. Against Honduras in the Hexagonal round (Dos A Cero, by the way) he scored both goals in what ended up being a 2-2 draw. Both goals were nice, and his first was good enough to make it onto SportsCenter's Top 10 plays that evening.

Take a look:

I think we can all enjoy watching that, especially since the goal didn't actually affect the USA's standing in the Hex. Now, we'll see if he can take a dash of that magic and bring it to Dick's on Saturday.
