Rapids Officially Sign Vicente Sanchez

The Gabriel Torres situation is still in limbo, but the Rapids have announced that they've gotten at least one of their transfer targets onto the team, Uruguayan forward Vicente Sanchez.

Colorado will get out of this transfer window with at least one of their targeted forwards on the squad, as they announced the signing of Uruguayan forward Vicente Sanchez today. Sanchez had been training with the team for some time and it was assumed that he would be signed after being showcased at the Season Ticket Holders party on August 4th.

Sanchez's pedigree is very similar to that of he-who-must-not-be-named (though as far as I know, he has never scored against Barcalona) but he has seemed much more excited to be on the squad than Edu ever seemed. He's likely to get minutes right away, assuming that everything on the transfer is sorted by the time the game against Chivas USA has arrived.

A recent rash of minor injuries to forwards like Edson Buddle and Atiba Harris, along with the loss of Kevin Harbottle, make it almost a guarantee that he'll at least be in the 18 for that game, even if he is usurped by Tony Cascio, Jaime Castrillon or someone else for the starting positions.

Now, about Gabriel Torres...
