Colorado Rapids Release Kevin Harbottle

Colorado is down one of their young internationals after releasing Kevin Harbottle on Wednesday.

So, uh, that thing about Kevin Harbottle getting more playing time in the future? Probably not happening. Colorado announced on Wednesday that they have released the young striker.

The release comes hot on the heels of the rumored signings of Vicente Sanchez -- who is currently in Colorado meeting with the team -- and Gabriel Torres, who according to Chris Bianchi is still a go to come to Colorado himself. Harbottle was a starter when the year opened, but misfired a bit in his later appearances and couldn't seem to crack the starting 18 after a few injuries.

It's always going to be a question of what could have been for Kevin, who showed plenty of flashes of potential in the small window of time he was given, but couldn't get past older guys like Edson Buddle, Atiba Harris and even Nick Labrocca on the depth chart. We wish all the best to the 22-year-old in his future career.
