A 2-0 win over a division rival is always good, especially one where you played well enough that the opposing coach describes what you did as 'manhandling' them. Plenty of Rapids had good matches out there against the Galaxy, but three guys stand out more than most in my eyes. Nominate anyone else you might think deserves the MoM award in the comments below:
Dillon Powers: Another day, another two-point game for the Rookie of the Year candidate. Powers now ranks second on the team in both goals and assists after notching his fourth goal and fourth assist of the season. That means nearly 30% of the goals the Rapids have scored this year have involved Mr. Thunderbolt. His goal and assist shouldn't take away from another fine passing performance in the midfield, either.
Hendry Thomas: Some may say he deserved to get thrown out for a few hard challenges, but he was able to convince the referee otherwise, and when you're playing against a midfield containing Juninho and Marcelo Sarvas you need to be a bit hardnosed. With LA starting the game off well, Hendry was able to slow things down and eventually notched his second goal of the year to help things out.
Shane O'Neill: A bit of a darkhorse, but he made up for a somewhat shaky Seattle match with a fantastic performance against LA. Not only did he distribute very well from the back and keep his men marked, but he also continued to show an odd but wonderful to watch penance for getting incredibly far forward on runs. Is he perfecting the rarely heard of CAD (Central Attacking Defender) position?
