Shane O'Neill scored his first ever international goal for the United States as he helped the US U-20 team take down Portugal in their final game before the U-20 World Cup begins. Jose Villarreal of the LA Galaxy and Alonso Hernandez of Monterrey also scored for the Yanks in the 3-1 victory.
Shane didn't start the game, but he came into the game at halftime and wasted no time in giving the United States the lead, putting it in on a free kick in the 51st minute of play.
I'll let the US Soccer official youth twitter account relay the action, since I didn't actually watch the game myself:
Villarreal took a quick free kick, Portugal was sleeping and O'Neill shot inside the far right post

O'Neill's goal may be what it takes to push him into the starting lineup when they finally begin the U-20 World Cup on June 21st. Their first game will come against Spain, with games against France and Ghana finishing off the Group Stage.
