World Cup qualification in CONCACAF came to an explosive end on Tuesday night as the United States took down Panama thanks to two very late goals. The match was thrilling, but disappointing in the end in some ways as it guaranteed Mexico a spot in the Top 4 and knocked Panama out despite a Mexico loss to Costa Rica.
Colorado forward Gabriel Torres got quite a few more minutes in the match than he did during their disappointing loss to the Mexicans a few days prior, and he was able to make an impact once again with a goal in the 18th minute. Luis Tejada scored the second for Panama before the heartbreak hit.
The good news for us is that it means Torres won't be missing any time on World Cup duty next year. Deshorn Brown will not either thanks to Jamaica missing out on the World Cup action, but we already knew that.
