Despite a bit of doom 'n' gloom in Rapidsland after that 1-0 crapfest against the San Jose Earthquakes, we're not quite in a position of real peril just yet. They went into that San Jose game needing only two results to go their way (one of them being their own match) to clinch a playoff berth, and it remains the same going into the match against the Whitecaps.
This time around, the Rapids will clinch a playoff berth if they can knock out the Vancouver Whitecaps at home and if the LA Galaxy take all three points in the California Clasico against the Quakes. If the Rapids win and the Quakes-LA game ends in a draw, a playoff berth won't be clinched but it will be quite a lot easier to predict one coming to Colorado.
We were saying a few weeks ago that taking care of business at home would probably prove to be all it took to get the Rapids in the playoffs. In a few days, we'll find out if that really is the case.
