On Sunday, September 29th, the Colorado Rapids will host the Los Angeles Galaxy at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. It will be the final time the two clubs will meet for the 2012 campaign. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 MST and the match will be broadcast on Altitude.
Colorado (9-18-3) are basically playing for pride despite not being eliminated from the Western Conference playoff race. The 2012 campaign has been tough for the Rapids and the supporters, but with three home matches remaining, the club will look to win in front of their home support. Colorado will also look to avenge a 2-0 loss to the Galaxy at the Home Depot Center on September 14th.
Los Angeles (15-11-4) have had a fantastic second half of the season and became the third team in the Western Conference to secure their passage to the playoffs. While the Galaxy have unrealistic hopes of catching San Jose for the top spot in the West, they can potentially overcome Real Salt Lake for second place. David Beckham returned to full training at the beginning of the week and is looking to play in what would be his third league appearance in Colorado since he joined LA Galaxy from Real Madrid in 2007.
A capacity crowd is expected at Dick's Sporting Goods Park as the Galaxy usually draw big crowds to all MLS venues within the league. Robbie Keane has been in fine form recently and Landon Donovan recently returned from an injury layoff. Colorado's defense will have their hands full and they will also look to contain attacking midfielders Juninho and Christian Wilhelmsson.
