So, yeah. Friday's loss to the Portland Timbers was yet another frustrating one this season where we saw the team do some good stuff, but nothing good enough to actually snatch a win away. Finishing might be a big point in the off season considering how most of the players on the team can't seem to find the twine with a map, compass and a native, indigenous guide to the land. (In this case, would that be Chris Wondolowski?)
At least we get another chance at 'em on Wednesday, right? Eh? Guys?
Ah well, here's the player ratings for Friday's 1-0 loss...
0 - Awful, horrible, why is he even on the field!?
1-3 - Poor. Why is he starting?
4-6 - Decent. Played a reasonable game, but could have done much more.
7-9 - Great game! Did nearly everything right with few mistakes
10 - Perfect game.
Matt Pickens - 6.5
Not bad at all from Pickens, putting together some monster saves. There might be an argument saying he could have done a bit more on the goal he allowed, but the defensive flubs that led up to it left him in a very unfortunate spot.
Drew Moor - 5.5
Nothing too great but nothing too terrible out of the captain this time around. Moor continues to get let down by the defensive teammates around him.
Tyson Wahl - 3
Sal Zizzo dominated Wahl all game long up until and continuing after his assist on Bright Dike's goal. If Sal Zizzo is dominating you, you might want to rethink your role as a defender.
Marvell Wynne - 4
Bright Dike was completely untouched on the goal that was allowed. Coverage has never been Wynne's strong suit but that was particularly bad.
Tyrone Marshall - 4.5
Marshall was actually one of the better defenders, and when that's the case it usually means bad news for everyone else.
Hendry Thomas - 7
I won't go so far as to say he had a masterclass performance, but Hendry showed some damn fine potential in his first game with the Rapids, especially in the passing game. He singlehandedly removed half of the midfield turnovers we usually see and had Portland scrambling to stop their own this time around.
Martin Rivero - 5
Rivero should keep doing what he's doing, the assists will continue to come as soon as his teammates learn how to finish. He might want to learn that himself, though -- having that many shots on the season and only one goal isn't a good clip.
Brian Mullan - 4
It wasn't completely Mullan's fault that he was mostly ineffective, he seemed to be playing through injury.
Jeff Larentowicz - 5.5
Generic 2012 game for Larentowicz, really. Didn't do anything particularly bad, but wasn't great. Thomas being by his side did seem to help, though.
Conor Casey - 5
Casey looked a bit gassed throughout the game, but still managed to hold the ball as well as he usually does up top. Needs to get more shots for himself, though.
Tony Cascio - 4.5
Another energetic performance from Cascio, but nothing to write home about.
SUBS
Andre Akpan - 5
Akpan should really get a start at some point so we can see what he does through 90 minutes. Perhaps against Portland again?
Omar Cummings - 3
lol
Jaime Castrillon - 4
Castrillon came very close to scoring, but didn't manage to put it in, story of his life the past few games, really.
