You knew it was coming, and it's going to keep on coming until the Rapids start stinking up their appearances on July 4th. As you might have heard (you have heard) the Rapids are wonderful all time on our nation's birthday, with a 11-2-3 all time record.
Now, the last two games in a row on July 4th/3rd at DSGP have been draws -- 1-1 against New York in 2010 and 0-0 against Houston last season -- but they were at least well played so we can expect a solid game from our burgundy boys as they face the Vancouver Whitecaps in an all-important Western Conference match up. After all, what better way is there to celebrate the United States' birthday than by beating up on some Canadians?
Oh yeah, and there will be fireworks.
There is one good thing about Dick's Sporting Goods Park being essentially in no-man's land. They rarely have to deal with fire or noise restrictions, and despite the entire state being on lockdown for fire control because of the raging wildfires we've had to deal with, the fireworks are scheduled as planned!
DSGP is always packed for the 4th games, so hope to see you all there!
