It's almost time for the 2012 MLS season to begin!! Tomorrow we can pack DSGP and start watching the Colorado Rapids take on the Columbus Crew, but first we'll take a look back at what was a fantastically thrilling and eventful offseason... and ask the important question:
Did you like or dislike the offseason that the Colorado Rapids put together? A detailed list of all the events is after the jump.
* Sacked coach Gary Smith following a disappointing season, early playoff exit and lackluster CONCACAF Champions League campaign.
* Lost Sanna Nyassi to the Montreal Impact in the yearly Expansion draft.
* Re-signed veteran and 5 time MLS Cup winner Brian Mullan to a multi-year deal, likely keeping him in Colorado until his retirement.
* Removed Jeff Plush as the President of the Organization and promoted Tim Hinchley III to take his place.
* Signed former Dallas player/coach Oscar Pareja to be the sixth manager in the history of the franchise.
* Signed former Houston defender Hunter Freeman.
* Dropped Mike Holody, Danny Earls and Miguel Comminges from the squad due to declined options, opening two international slots.
* Drafted UCONN Winger Tony Cascio 14th overall in the SuperDraft, followed by Japanese international Kohei Yamada and Joel Henwick in the Supplemental draft.
* Signed Columbian International Jaime Castrillon out of Columbian side Independiente Medellín.
* Released striker Caleb Folan on mutual terms after one year in Colorado.
* Traded Macoumba Kandji to the Houston Dynamo for a conditional draft pick.
