The Colorado Rapids couldn't hold off Yokohama FC in their semi-final match in the Hawaii Islands Soccer Invitational, losing 2-1. Melbourne Heart played Busan I'Park FC to a 0-0 draw and then had a very long, drawn out penalty contest which ended 4-3 in favor of the Korean side. Colorado will now play Melbourne for the right of being in third place in the tourney on Saturday evening.
Heart were founded in 2008 and play in the Australian League - cleverly titled the 'A-League' - where they are currently fifth in the table. They should provide an interesting opponent for Colorado, it's always fun watching teams that you've never seen play before.
I'm not actually sure if there's red card suspension rules in this tournament, but if there are then the Rapids are going to miss Wells Thompson, who was carded late in the Yokohama match.
The game will be on ESPN3 at 8:00 PM Mountain time, check it out for a sneak preview of how our new 4-3-3 system is working out if nothing else.
