Colorado Rapids sign Columbian Luis Zapata

Yay signings!
Yay signings!

The Colorado Rapids announced on Thursday right before their game with Yokohama FC for the Hawaii Island Soccer Invitational that they had officially signed left back Luis Zapata to the roster, finally filling the hole at LB that was left when the Rapids released Danny Earls and Miguel Comminges at the start of the off season.

The 32 year old had been on trial with Colorado for the majority of the preseason, taking the starting role most games. With Anthony Wallace still waiting to heal completely from his surgery, having a go to guy at left back to take his place was one of the biggest concerns of the off season for the Rapids so it's good to see this signing go through.

Zapata immediately becomes the favorite candidate for the starting position at left back for the home opener March 10th. I think we can all agree that we're happy it won't be Scott Palguta!
