Accoridng to a few sources (Dynamo beat writer Darrell Lovel had it first, while Chris Bianchi eventually confirmed it from his Rapids_News account on twitter), the Colorado Rapids will formally announce that Omar Cummings has been traded to the Houston Dynamo on Sunday.
The reported trade package is 25-year-old journeyman defender/midfielder Nathan Sturgis and allocation money. As per usual, the amount of allocation money received is not being made public, but it would probably not be out of the ballpark to assume it is enough to replenish what the Rapids lost when they acquired Edson Buddle.
Sturgis should provide more good depth at the back and could possibly step into the defensive midfielder role if Jeff Larentowicz is next on the trading block. Considering how mediocre Omar has been the last two seasons, the package they're reportedly getting is about as much as he's worth. There were plenty of Rapids fans that figured the guy wouldn't have any trade value at all.
This probably won't be the last move of the off-season, so strap in for more fun trades!
