On Saturday, October 20th, the Colorado Rapids will travel to the Home Depot Center to take on Chivas USA. Both clubs have been eliminated from the postseason and will be playing for pride within the Western Conference. Kickoff is expected at 8:30 MST and the match will be broadcast on Altitude.
Colorado (9-19-4) has two matches remaining on the season and are aiming to finish the campaign in a respectable manner. The Rapids had an extra week to prepare for Chivas USA after the 4-1 home drubbing against league leaders San Jose on October 6th. However, Colorado has several injuries to deal with as Conor Casey, Brian Mullan and Matt Pickens are all unlikely to feature against the Rojiblancos.
Chivas USA (7-17-8) currently find themselves bottom of the Western Conference with 29 points. Historically, the goats have struggled against Colorado and this season has been no different. This is Chivas USA's only home match this season against Colorado. The Rojiblancos lost 4-0 and managed a 1-1 draw courtesy of a Juan Pablo Angel goal at Dick's Sporting Goods Park this season.
Rapids midfielder Martin Rivero stated this past week that he is comfortable in Colorado and hopes to return for the 2013 season. Rivero is with the Rapids on a two-year loan from Rosario Central of Argentina but the parent club could end the loan deal early due to Rivero's good form this year. However, it is logical that most fans would relish the return of Martin Rivero for another season in the Mile High city.
