Earlier in this season, Eddie Ababio was a member of the Colorado Rapids team that took down the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the U.S. Open Cup.
A few months later, he'll be playing for the NASL title with those same Rowdies.
After being waived by the Rapids halfway through the season at the same time as Quincy Amarikwa and Ross LaBauex, Ababio was picked up by Tampa Bay as they pushed toward the end of the NASL season. He has made scant few appearances since joining the team, but has helped them earn a berth in the NASL final against the current reigning champion, the Minnesota Stars.
Ababio and the Rowdies will play game one of the two-legged playoff in Blaine, MN on Saturday, with another game in Tampa Bay the following weekend. The winner of the aggregate score in the two legs will lift the trophy.
We at Burgundy Wave wish good luck to our former right back! (Though, Ben might be rooting for the Stars if he's been drinking enough.)
