Colorado tries to continue its July 4th dominance

MLB's Colorado Rockies, the MLL's Denver Outlaws and the Colorado Rapids from MLS; there are three teams that always have fireworks shows in Denver around the fourth of July - and usually on it if the 4th isn't on a Monday like this year - but the Rapids have always been the class of the group when it comes to the actual games being played. (The argument can be made that thanks to the lack of noise restrictions in Commerce City, they've also got the best fireworks show out of the group, but that's an argument for another day.)

The Colorado Rapids are 11-2-2 all time on July 4th, and had it not been for a controversially called back Mehdi Ballouchy goal last season against the New York Red Bulls it would likely have been a 12-2-1 piece. Either way, with the Rapids currently on a two game losing slide where they've been outscored 7-2, they're in desperate need for a good game to get back into the swing of things and the start of July is probably the kindest time for the Rapids to do it.

Hopefully it's not in a torrential downpour though like last season, that fireworks show was a little less than stellar to watch with the ice cold water slamming you in the eyes every time you tried to look up! That terrible weather last season probably also kept the game from selling out, but that's neither here nor there.

Whether you're going to the Colorado Rockies vs. Kansas City Royals game, the Denver Outlaws vs. Boston Cannons game or the Rapids vs. Houston match in Commerce City, enjoy the 4th of July and whatever fireworks you're going to see, everyone!
